U.S. Army veteran Ray Mize received a Purple Heart on Feb. 21, 1945 after being wounded while fighting in Burma during WWII. A clerical error prevented the commendation from being placed in his official record, so he never received his actual medal. This Purple Heart was given to him symbolically.
