The sign on the door says "Classroom 1" but the room has been converted to a storage area for mattresses and X-beds. The Johnson County jail is above it's normal capacity. Bunks are full and many inmates sleep on "X-beds", also known as "boats". They are plastic, light weight containers for a mattress. They provide some insulation from the concrete floors and are easy to move and store. Here is a photo from the jail in Frankiln Thursday August 24, 2017. Rob Goebel / Daily Journal
