Workers demolish the unused Valle Vista water tower in Greenwood Wednesday. The city paid about $60,000 to raze the one-time landmark as part of an effort to boost business at the city-owned Greenwood Municipal Airport at County Line Road and Emerson Avenue. Pilots have said they're not comfortable with the tower since it appears to pop up directly in their path when they descend through the clouds, and they only fly a few hundred feet over it when taking off to the south.
